Adam Levine Rates His Fellow ‘The Voice’ Coaches; Christina Aguilera Pulls From Own Ups & Downs To Help Contestants

Before fans get a chance to see Simon Cowell battle it out with his fellow judges on FOX’s “The X Factor” this fall, another crop of celebrity judges are ready to take on each other with their contenders on NBC’s “The Voice.”

“I tease Adam [Levine of Maroon 5] a lot because he stole three people away from me,” Christina Aguilera told Access Hollywood, with a laugh, of what’s coming up on “The Voice.”

“It’s good because at one point or another we’re put on the hot seat and they get to choose which coach they want to go with,” Christina added of the competition.

As a coach, Christina said she’s been able to make light of her ups and downs – including messing up the lyrics during the national anthem at this year’s Super Bowl — and she’s hoping they become lessons she can pass on to the contestants.

“I make jokes about it all the time and my team loves it and we have a good laugh over things… during rehearsals and it’s just fun,” Christina said. “You can’t take things too seriously and it’s nice to be able to come from a real experience, position in my life to share with these upcoming talented people. Things that can go wrong and you still get back up there and I’m example of that.”

“The Voice,” which premieres on April 26 on NBC, differs from “The X Factor” and “American Idol” in a number of ways. For starters, the judges don’t get to see the contestants before deciding whether they want to mentor them and the contestants too – as Christina said – have a say.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the judging panel includes Christina, Adam, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton, and already, the good-spirited country star has made an impression on his fellow panelists who weren’t aware of his lively personality.

“I wasn’t expecting you to be funny,” Adam told Blake during Access’ interview. “I was expecting like a really earnest, like straight up country guy, I wasn’t expecting this like subversive, punk rock man.”

Fans of Blake know he can get pretty sassy on Twitter, but the country hunk said he’ll be toning down the language as he judges on “The Voice.”

“I don’t think I can incorporate the Tweet behavior of my personality into this show because there is, you know, some language barriers I would say,” Blake said.

“Adam is still working on that,” Blake added tongue-in-cheek, referring to polite language issues. “He’ll drop a bomb.”

“I’ll drop some F’s, some S’s,” Adam added.

While Blake is the funniest of the bunch, Adam said it’s the lady of the group who is gunning to win.

“Christina is very outwardly competitive,” Adam said.
