Adele ‘Cried Pretty Much All Day’ After Grammys Performance

Adele said her Grammy performance woes prompted a day’s
worth of tears.

“I cried pretty much all day [on Tuesday, the day after the Grammys],” Adele told Ellen DeGeneres for “The Ellen DeGeneres
Show’s” Thursday episode.

Adele’s performance at the Grammys was hit with sound
issues when a microphone inside the piano fell onto the strings.

The British chanteuse noted, however, that if her
performance hadn’t had any hiccups, she still would have had tears the following day.

“In fairness, I would’ve been crying if it went really
well, as well. If it had been like a standout performance, I would’ve cried as
well. I always cry, but I kept like spontaneously bursting into tears [on
Tuesday] for no reason, but it was all right. I was fine,” she said.

The superstar said that she knew immediately why there were
sound issues as she performed.

“I heard straight away and… I knew what it was because
in the rehearsal on the Saturday, they’re like, ‘We’re going to double mic the
piano just in case one of them doesn’t work,’ and I knew where the mic was and
I wanted to turn around and lift it up, but I froze,” Adele told Ellen.
“But I actually felt like it went well. In the room [during the Grammys]…
they actually sorted the problem and I’m always a bit pitchy anyway. … It’s
emotion.”

When Adele is next on stage with a sound problem, she is going to ask for help, she told Ellen.

“Next time I have any sound issues, I am gonna stop.
‘Sorry, that’s not working for me. If we have time to do it again, let’s do
it,'” she told Ellen. “Otherwise, bye.'”
