Amanda Bynes Arrested For DUI; ‘Suspicion Is Drugs,’ CHP Source Says

The trouble continues for Amanda Bynes.

Bynes was arrested for DUI early Sunday morning near Los Angeles, California Highway Patrol confirms to Access Hollywood.

The actress was pulled over shortly before 4 AM local time on Sunday in her white Mercedes, when CHP says her car came to a stop at a red light and stopped “in the middle of the intersection.”

“The driver, identified by her drivers [sic] license as Ms Amanda Bynes, appeared to be under the influence,” CHP said in a statement to Access.

Bynes was transported to the West Valley CHP office for evaluation by a “Drug Recognition Expert.” Following the evaluation, Bynes was arrested for driving under the influence of a drug – a misdemeanor, CHP confirmed.

She was arrested and transported to LAPD Van Nuys Jail, where she was booked around 7 AM and was held on $15,000 bail.

Bynes was released at 12:44 PM that same day.

“The suspicion is drugs. It’ll be a couple of weeks before test results are in,” a CHP source tells Access.

Authorities described Bynes as “cooperative during the entire process.”

The arrest comes while the embattled actress was currently on probation, stemming from her 2012 DUI arrest. In February 2014, a judge placed Bynes on three-years probation.

In April, according to People, the actress got her driver’s license back, following a lengthy suspension on the heels of several charges.

A spokesperson for the District Attorney’s office tells Access that the incident could be result in a probation violation.

An attorney for Bynes was not immediately available for comment when Access Hollywood reached out on Monday.
