Angelina Jolie: ‘My Kids Are Very Happy’ I’m Starring In ‘Maleficent’

Charlize Theron and Julia Roberts better watch out – there’s another leading lady going fairytale!

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Angelina Jolie opened up about her upcoming title role in in Disney’s “Maleficent,” which tells the story of the princess’ evil nemesis from “Sleeping Beauty.”

“It’s a really great script. I’m having a lot of fun. I’ve already got my horns fitted,” the 36-year-old mother of six told The mag. “My kids are very happy.”

The actress explained that the movie will take a different approach to the classic fairytale.

“It’s not anti-princess, but it’s the first time they’re looking at this epic woman [in a different way],” she told EW.

“I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn’t mean she can’t have other [warmer] qualities. You have to figure out the puzzle of what she is,” Angelina continued. “It sounds really crazy to say that there will be something that’s good for young girls in this, because it sounds like you’re saying they should be a villain, [Maleficent] is actually a great person. But she’s not perfect. She’s far from perfect.”

And though it might be a new take on the iconic story, Angelina explained that the character’s classic look will be included.

“We’re experimenting with different things,” she said of her costume. “But the horns are the horns — you can’t deny them. You have to have horns.”

“Maleficent” is slated to hit theaters sometime in 2013.
