‘Arrow’: Marc Guggenheim & Paul Blackthorne Preview Lance & Ra’s Meeting

Quentin Lance has a big interaction with another character on tonight’s “Arrow.”

Paul Blackthorne’s Lance is going to meet Matt Nable’s Ra’s al Ghul.

And, the actor recently told Access Hollywood that it “is a bit of a strange situation” for the Starling City lawman to find himself in.

“He’s looking at this guy, he’s got no idea of his context, and all he can sit there and wonder is why he’s wearing such ridiculous clothes, and big gold flashy jewelry. It’s like, ‘Are you going out dancing, dude?’ ‘What’s happening here?'” Paul said. “So that’s a slightly different scene that [Lance] had with him, but nice to see that rather odd couple in the same room together. Lot of fun.”

Executive Producer Marc Guggeneheim told Access at last month’s PaleyFest that the scene is a very big deal.

“It’s a barn burner of a scene. It’s like these two have a whole lot in common because Ra’s al Ghul did train Sara and this is not a man who is completely unknown to Lance,” Guggenheim said. “He looms very, very large. He’s the father of his [late] daughter’s girlfriend, so this is a very charged scene with a lot going on and I would say it’s probably one of the biggest landmark scenes of the show.”

At PaleyFest, Paul also dished a little more on what to expect when the moment happens.

“The scene between the two of us is interesting because it’s obviously a different dynamic,” he said. “Lance isn’t normally involved in that whole side of the mythology so to have Ra’s and Lance in the same scene going, ‘Who the hell are you?’ was kind of interesting.”

“Arrow” continues tonight at 8/7c on The CW.
