‘Arrow’s’ Katie Cassidy On Training Hard For Laurel: ‘I’m Having A Blast’

Katie Cassidy’s Laurel Lance is continuing to find her strength on “Arrow,” and it has meant more challenges for the actress.

“Honestly, I am so grateful, and so lucky, and so happy,” Katie told reporters on the “Arrow” set in Vancouver, recently, of the material she has been tackling this season.

Since the death of Laurel’s sister, Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), in the “Arrow” Season 3 premiere, Katie’s character has been undergoing big changes. It’s inspired her to do new things – like strap on a mask and take on a man who abused his girlfriend. While that didn’t go as planned when the man turned the tables on Laurel, Ms. Lance is now hitting the boxing ring with Ted Grant (J.R. Ramirez), training herself up to be even stronger.

Katie said she is relishing in Laurel’s continued development, even if it means long days and night shoots.

“I’m working out and training at least 2-3 hours a day, and sometimes I’m on set for 12-15 hours, so it gets really tiring, but it’s so worth it,” Katie said.

“I’m so happy, and I’m having a blast, and it was really crazy one day when I woke up and all of the sudden I had biceps! I was like ‘Oh, okay, I have shoulders and biceps and this is awesome!'” Katie laughed.

“Arrow” continues Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
