Axl Rose Wants A Pepper Too

In the last several years, dozens of companies have offered their wares to celebrities in the name of a little free publicity.

There was Taco Bell who offered K-Fed a job after he appeared in a minimum wage style Super Bowl ad, and more recently, Kentucky Fried Chicken wanted to give Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony a finger lickin’ good tour after-party.

Despite the offers, the stars don’t usually bother replying. But not all stars are Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose.

Earlier this week, Dr. Pepper begged Axl to finally release the band’s long-awaited new album, “Chinese Democracy.”

The company promised a free can of Dr. Pepper to everyone in America, par Slash and Buckethead, the band’s ex-guitarists, if Axl managed to get the record out this year.

Now it appears the band’s frontman himself has a few words about the offer.

“We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr. Pepper with our album ‘Chinese Democracy,’ as for us, this came totally out of the blue,” Axl’s statement read. “If there is any involvement with this promotion by our record company or others, we are unaware of such at this time. And as some of Buckethead’s performances are on our album, I’ll share my Dr Pepper with him.”
