Duke & Duchess Of Cambridge Begin Weeklong Visit To India

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have begun a weeklong visit to India and Bhutan, their second major trip representing the British crown and their first royal tour in almost two years.

Prince William and his wife, the former Kate Middleton, began their first engagement in India by laying a wreath at a memorial Sunday at Mumbai’s iconic Taj Mahal Palace hotel, where 31 victims of the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks were killed.

Crowds gathered outside the hotel to catch a glimpse of the couple.

During their trip, William and Kate will hold meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and conservation groups, and will visit the Taj Mahal.

The royal couple will also visit India’s neighbor Bhutan at the invitation of the Bhutanese king.
