Best Baby Gifts (Glam Slam)

My second daughter is three-and-a-half months old and the baby gifts are still coming in. What can I say? I have some incredible and incredibly generous friends, so luckily, she won’t have a wardrobe made up entirely of hand-me-downs.

In fact, my daughter is already quite stylish thanks to the quilted pink Burberry jacket and Dior pacifier she received! Chic!

If you are looking for a few baby gift ideas (in time for the holidays too!), here are a few of my favorites.

LITTLE LUXURIES:
My lovely friend Max, whom I call my daughters’ “Fashion Godfather,” keeps my children in style. He likes to spoil my girls with things I would never buy myself including a fabulous J. Crew baby sweater… in cashmere! No mom I know would ever buy that for their own child, which is kind of the whole point of an extravagant, impractical, wonderful gift.

PRACTICAL NECESSITIES:
A group of my girlfriends went in together on an assortment of things everyone needs — onesies, blankets, diapers and a gift card to Target. Practical always works! I also love a matching red and pink striped onesie, hat, blanket and toy hippo that came from giggle.com’s better basics collection. Adorable and something that will get a lot of use! Baby products are always a big hit too and we received some from good ones Mustela, Weleda, and a Babo Botanicals Newborn set from my friend Melissa.

SAVE STYLISHLY:
My friend David gave both my daughters banks — yes, good old-fashion piggy banks. A blingy pink pig for my youngest, while my older girl received a sweet bunny bank from Tiffany. My 4-year-old LOVES putting money in her bank and it’s actually been teaching her to save her cash!

TAKE NOTE!
My mommy friend Jen is so awesome — she even helped do my baby registry when I was expecting my first daughter, since I had no idea what I was doing! She’s always in-the-know about what you need way before you know you need it! She sent my daughter Jasper her very own fancy “J” note cards from Carde Blanche, which came in the best gift wrapping I have ever received, hands down. Great idea.

MAKE IT PERSONAL:
Having something monogrammed or personalized is always a home run and it shows you made the effort to make something extra special. Cara, another mommy friend, had a hooded towel personalized with my daughter’s name and it is beyond cute. My mom and sister gave personalized onesies and burp cloths… something you can never have too many of!

THAT’S A WRAP:
aden + anais cotton muslin swaddling blankets are beyond popular… every star under the sun has one and when Prince George was spotted coming out of the hospital wrapped in one, sales went up 600 percent. While my baby girl did not get any of these blankets herself, I got a few back in 2009 when my first child was born and let me tell you, they only get better with age. We use these every single day and they are even softer now. The sentimental side of me loves that both kids used the same blankets. For a heavier blanket, the super-soft, super fuzzy pink and grey chevron print Barefoot Dreams blanket from my friend Sara is such a hit, I have been using it myself!

Happy Shopping!
