Beyonce Helps Taylor Swift Finish Her VMA Speech, Kanye Apologizes For Outburst

Beyonce made a gracious move at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, giving up the stage for Taylor Swift.

Beyonce won Video of the Year for “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” but invited Taylor back to the stage to finish her acceptance speech after the country singer won Best Female Video over Beyonce – but was interrupted by Kanye West, who took the mic from her to praise Beyonce’s video earlier in the evening.

“[I remember] I was up for my first MTV award with Destiny’s Child and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life,” Beyonce said. “So I’d like for Taylor to come out and have her moment.”

Taylor then took the stage in a red dress that matched Beyonce’s, thanking the fans “on Twitter and MySpace and everyone who came out to my shows this summer,” as well as those who had worked on her video for “You Belong With Me.”

Kanye — who was asked to leave the awards show by MTV after his outburst — issued an apology on his blog later Sunday night.

“I’m sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom,” he wrote on his blog. “I’m in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment!”

However, he stood by his thoughts on Beyonce.

“Beyonce’s video was the best of this decade!!!!… Everybody wanna boooo me but I’m a fan of real pop culture!!! …I’m still happy for Taylor!!!!” he Tweeted. “I’m not crazy yall, I’m just real. Sorry for that!!! I feel really bad for Taylor and I’m sincerely sorry!!!”
