Blake Shelton Talks Competition Between The Coaches On NBC’s The Voice

“The Voice” returns to NBC tonight and Blake Shelton said the new makeup of the coaches’ panel – which includes Shakira and Usher – has given things a spicy twist.

“It’s chaos,” Blake told Access Hollywood, when asked about the dynamics of the foursome, which also includes returning coach Adam Levine. “It’s competitive, it’s constipated, it’s everything that can make you uncomfortable as a coach and everything that’s entertaining as a viewer.”

Shakira is the only woman on the panel, but Blake doesn’t see her gender. He sees someone he wants to beat.

“Forget Shakira! I’m tired of everybody asking me about [her]. She is my competition,” he said.

“I’m not going to say anything nice about her anymore,” Blake continued, showing off his competitive side. “Yes, she’s beautiful, she’s talented, she’s sweet, she’s also my competition. Forget Shakira, that’s what I say.”

It sounds like Shakira may be Blake’s competition, and the country superstar suggested Usher is the one challenging Adam Levine.

“I don’t think anybody gets under Adam’s skin more than Usher and nobody gets under Usher’s skin more than Adam,” Blake said. “They both have that, ‘I’m the coolest guy on this show,’ thing between them and of course, I’m the only hillbilly, so I have no competition. And Shakira’s the only girl so… Those two — they butt heads.”
