Brad Pitt Defends His Chanel Ad

Brad Pitt might have raised a few eyebrows – and been the butt of a few jokes – with his Chanel No. 5 ad, but the actor is standing by the spots.

Access Hollywood’s Michelle Beadle sat down with the actor at the junket for his latest movie, “Killing Them Softly,” where he spoke candidly about the perfume campaign.

“I’ve been overseas, so I’ve been blissfully protected,” the 48-year-old actor said when asked about people’s reactions.

“I haven’t [seen the parodies], but I say absolutely fair play, fair play,” Brad continued.

Despite the ad’s random and off-the-wall feel, the actor told Access he enjoyed the final product.

“I kind of liked it… I respect what they do,” he said of the fashion house. “They do some really quality things.”

Brad might be proud of his Chanel ad, but when asked if he could identify the scent on the street, the actor was less confident.

“That I can’t,” Brad said.

For his latest role, Brad had to do something he put behind him – smoking – something he’s quit and started doing again and again.

”[I’ve quit] several times, I’m really good at it,” he said about lighting up again for the role where he plays an enforcer in the Andrew Dominik- directed movie, which Brad also produced.

“It’s great, it’s great,” he said of having to smoke in the movie. “But you have to know that you’re going to have to quit on the other end and that that ugly day is coming, so you over enjoy it I guess.”

The actor was glad to leave the habit on the big screen.

“I very conscious of health now and I want to be around for my kids, I don’t have that drive anymore,” he said. “I don’t crave it all.”

“Killing Them Softly” hits theaters on November 30, 2012.
