In a chilling nine-minute call, Brad Renfro’s girlfriend is heard telling a 911 operator she thought Renfro “might have taken a couple pills” after finding the actor “passed out on the floor.”

The call, released by authorities on Wednesday, was placed on January 15 – the day the 25-year-old actor was found dead.

“He has an audition at 1 o’clock this afternoon and I’ve been trying to wake him up to get ready but he just won’t move,” his girlfriend tells the operator. “I can’t tell if he’s breathing.”

The operator instructs Renfro’s girlfriend to roll the actor over so he’s lying on his back, and after struggling at first, telling the 911 operator “he’s kind of a big kid,” the girlfriend gets Renfro on his back.

“His nose is bleeding,” she says. “It looks like he might have hit his head on something.”
The 911 operator proceeds to instruct the girlfriend how to administer CPR, however, her attempts were unsuccessful.

After approximately eight minutes on the phone with 911, the woman tells the operator the paramedics had arrived.

On February 8, the Los Angeles County Coroner ruled Renfro died from an “acute heroin/morphine intoxication.” The coroner’s report also indicated the drugs were injected.

“The final manner of death has been ruled an accident,” the report concluded.
