Breast Cancer Survivor Christina Applegate Offers Support To Giuliana Rancic

Christina Applegate underwent a double mastectomy in 2008 and now, the “Up All Night” star has extended her support to Giuliana Rancic, who underwent a lumpectomy in each breast on Tuesday.

“I know what that phone call sounds like and feels like,” the 39-year-old actress told E! News, of hearing about Giuliana’s recent diagnosis. “I hope she knows that I’m here if she wants to ever talk about it.”

Christina — now cancer free — added that due to the intimate nature of the topic, she was hesitant to offer unsought advice, but reiterated her willingness to lend an ear to the E! News and Style Network host.

“I don’t want to publicly say anything to her about it, because it’s a private matter,” Christina said. “But I know this whole journey. And so, if she needs me, I’m here.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Giuliana, 36, recently discovered her life was in danger as she and her husband, Bill Rancic, attempted to expand their family.

“Through my attempt to get pregnant through IVF, we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer,” Giuliana said during an interview on NBC’s “Today” show on Monday morning. “It’s been a shock.”

During her third round of in-vitro fertilization treatments, Giuliana’s doctor suggested she have a mammogram — something she was not planning to have for another four years.

“I wasn’t prepared to get a mammogram until I was 40 years old, like I’d been told,” she explained. “I never in my wildest dreams expected anything to be wrong.”
