Brian Austin Green is enjoying being a newlywed, having married wife Megan Fox in a private ceremony in Hawaii over the summer.
“She’s amazing,” the “Desperate Housewives” hunk gushed to Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Monday.
When Kit asked what made the box office beauty “the one,” Brian said that it’s because his bombshell wife, whom he met during a guest appearance on “Hope & Faith” (her former ABC sitcom), is family-centric.
“She’s just, she’s unique. She gets it. In a business that is as crazy as it is, she gets it and the most important thing in the world to her is family and private time and not this,” he said. “We go to these events. She goes to premieres and literally will walk the red carpet, walk out the back door and go home and take off all the stuff and then we’ll go have dinner somewhere or go see a movie.”
Brian is a few years older than Megan, and he spoke about how their age difference and him having dad responsibilities (he has an 8-year-old son) is one of the reasons they split for a short time in early 2009.
“The reality is, she was 18 when I met her and she went through an enormous just change in her life… just her career in general and going from being a girl who — when I met her, she was living in New York doing ‘Hope & Faith’ and we’d go to restaurants and I was the person everybody would recognize and point and laugh at or whatever,” Brian recounted. “And all of a sudden that turned around and she couldn’t go anywhere and her name and her face were everywhere. So, she went through the natural period of, ‘I’m not sure if I’m ready to be in such a settled relationship.’
“I have an 8-year-old, he was 2 at the time, when Megan and I met,” Brian continued. “She helped me raise him and it’s a huge responsibility. There was a lot to it.”
Megan’s clearly devoted husband said that when they had their short split, he wanted her to feel like their relationship wasn’t a burden as her career blossomed, something she apparently never felt.
“I didn’t want her to feel like she was stuck because she said she wanted to be in a relationship to begin with and we just never really went in different directions,” he said of the process by which the couple came back together. “We’d say, ‘Oh, let’s kind of take a break and see what’s going on…’
“It always came back together,” he added.
