Brit Actor Joins Night’s Watch, Irish Star To Meet Arya Stark In Season 2 Of ‘Game Of Thrones’

“Game of Thrones” author George R. R. Martin has confirmed some new casting news for the second season of the hit, Emmy-nominated HBO show.

British actor Ben Crompton will play Dolorous Edd, a member of the Night’s Watch, who works for the Old Bear, Lord Commander Jeor Mormontt (James Cosmo), Martin confirmed on his Not A Blog on Tuesday.

Crompton’s character will join Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and the men of the Night’s Watch as they journey beyond the Wall, in search of Snow’s uncle, the long-missing Benjen Stark (Joseph Mawle).

Crompton, from Manchester, England, appeared in the UK television show “Man Stroke Woman.”

He was also in PBS movie “The Mayor of Casterbridge,” which starred former “Rome” actors James Purefoy (Marc Anthony) and Polly Walker (Atia).

He also played Inspector Mason in “North & South,” the British miniseries based on the 1855 novel by Elizabeth Gaskell, which starred upcoming “The Hobbit” actor, Richard Armitage.

On Wednesday, Martin confirmed yet another cast member, revealing that Irish actor Michael McElhatton, will play Roose Bolton, Lord of the Dreadfort.

McElhatton’s character is actually in Martin’s first book, “Game of Thrones,” helping out the Starks, but was not featured in the HBO drama.

In Season 2 of the series, his storyline is expected to have him come into contact with Arya Stark (Maisie Williams).

McElhatton appeared alongside Jim Sturgess and Ben Kinglsey in 2008’s “Fifty Dead Men Walking.”

Crompton and McElhatton join the recently confirmed Hannah Murray as Gilly, Karl Davies as Alton Lannister as well as Roy Dotrice as Hallyne, the pyromancer, German actor Tom Wlaschiha as Jaqen H’ghar, Gemma Whelan as Yara Greyjoy (in the books as Asha), Nonso Anozie as Xaro Xhoan Daxos, Liam Cunningham as Davos, Stephen Dillane as Robert Baratheon’s heir and brother – Stannis, Dutch actress Carice van Houten as the red priestess Melisandre, Gwendoline Christie as Brienne, knight to Renly Baratheon, and “Tudors” actress Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell, Renly’s wife.
