Carrie Ann Inaba Talks Split: ‘You Always Have To Follow Your Heart’

“Dancing with the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba is opening up about her split from former fiance Jesse Sloan.

“We didn’t get married… Sometimes you find out that you’re not right for each other and that’s what happened,” the “DWTS” judge told Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Wednesday.

“The hardest part was his daughter… What’s amazing is that we’re still really, really close friends,” the 44-year-old – who said the split came after a “slow build” – continued. “At 44, people might be scared to break it off… You always have to follow your heart… I really just like to follow what’s true in my heart and this is where it’s lead me.”

The “DWTS” judge is keeping a positive attitude about her future.

“I have to believe that there is something wonderful out there for me. And I just keep moving forward,” she told Billy and Kit. “Now I get to work out every day, I go to the gym and I work out with this new trainer.”

Adding, “I’m feeling really good. It was sort of a restart… that’s lucky to have that opportunity.”
Carrie Ann and Jesse got engaged in March 2011 after meeting on an online dating service.
