Carrie Underwood To Perform Super Bowl National Anthem

For the third year in a row, the national anthem at the Super Bowl will be sung by an “American Idol” alum.

Carrie will sing the National Anthem prior to Super Bowl XLIV in Miami on February 7, the NFL and CBS announced on Thursday.

In addition, Queen Latifah will perform “America The Beautiful” before the game.

Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks performed the anthem the past two years.

Other stars who have recently sung the song before the big game include Billy Joel, Beyonce, the Dixie Chicks, Mariah Carey and Faith Hill.

Meanwhile, Queen Latifah becomes just the sixth act to sing “American The Beautiful” on the Super Bowl stage, joining previous performers Faith Hill, Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige & Marc Anthony, Ray Charlies and Vicki Carr.

As previously announced, The Who will perform at halftime, when the New Orleans Saints take on the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.
