Casting Call: Is Kate Beckinsale Joining Colin Farrell In ‘Total Recall’ Reboot?

Move over Sharon Stone – Kate Beckinsale might just be the new “Total” package.

The British beauty has reportedly been offered one of the female leads in Sony’s reboot of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger classic “Total Recall,” according to Deadline.

Stone played Schwarzenegger’s on-screen wife, Lori, in the original, and it’s reported that this is the role offered to Beckinsale.

Colin Farrell will star in the role of Douglas Quaid, originally played by Schwarzenegger.

The reboot is being directed by Beckinsale’s husband, Len Wiseman, who also directed/produced his wife in the first three “Underworld” films.

As for the other female lead – the role of the alien ally, Melina – actresses including Eva Mendes and Rosario Dawson have been mentioned as possible contenders for the part.

“Breaking Bad” Emmy winner Bryan Cranston will reportedly play the villain, Vilos Cohaagen.

Production on the film is expected to begin in May, with an August 2012 release date targeted.

Sony had no comment on the Beckinsale report.

Beckinsale is currently shooting the fourth installment in the “Underworld” franchise, which Wiseman is producing, slated for a January 2012 release.

She recently wrapped production on the action smuggling film “Contraband,” starring Mark Wahlberg.
