Casting Call: Two Marilyn Monroes, The ‘Other’ Lindsay Lohan & Sam Worthington’s New Adventure

A new “Side” to Lindsay Lohan’s new project. Sam Worthington set for more epic adventure. Plus, two Hollywood leading ladies take on Marilyn Monroe! It’s all in the latest edition of the AccessHollywood.com Casting Call…

What’s the only thing better than one Marilyn Monroe? Apparently, two Marilyn Monroes… at the same time.

News out of the Cannes Film Festival is that both Naomi Watts and Michelle Williams will take on the role of the iconic blonde bombshell in separate projects.

Watts, 41, will play Monroe in the biopic “Blonde,” based on author Joyce Carol Oates’ controversial, fictionalized 2000 memoir of the same name.

Meanwhile, Williams, 29, is in talks to play Monroe in The Weinstein Company’s “My Week With Marilyn,” which centers on the icon’s time in England while filming “The Prince and The Showgirl” with Laurence Olivier in 1957, per Deadline.

According to Deadline, another Hollywood bombshell turned down the part before it went to Williams – Scarlett Johansson.

“My Week” is set to begin shooting in September, while “Blonde” will begin production in January 2011.

Get ready to meet the “Other” Lindsay Lohan.

Actress Olivia Thirlby has been tapped to replace Lindsay in “The Other Side,” Access Hollywood has confirmed.

The casting was first reported by TMZ.

The news comes a few weeks after TMZ originally reported the embattled actress was dropped from the film over concerns whether or not she was still “bankable.”

“Our team simply chose to move on from Lindsay and we’ll soon be announcing a replacement,” the film’s writer/director David Michaels told TMZ at the time.

The comedy, which also stars Woody Harrelson and Giovanni Ribisi, follows a science scholar who spends the summer on a strange island, where the residents are out of touch with reality.

Thirlby, 23, has a few films under her belt, including roles in “United 93,” “Juno” and “The Wackness.”

Lindsay will next be seen on the big screen in Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete.” She also recently reportedly landed the role of famous porn star Linda Lovelace in a biopic of the adult film star’s life.

Sam Worthington has his next film lined up.

The star of “Avatar” and “Clash of the Titans” will star in DreamWorks’ new sci-fi project “Quatermain,” per The Hollywood Reporter.

Worthington will play title character Allan Quatermain, the hero from the “King Solomon’s Mines” literary series by H. Rider Haggard.

The role of Quatermain is one previously taken on by Sean Connery in “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” and Patrick Swayze in “King Solomon’s Mines.”

The film will also mark Worthington’s debut as a producer.

DreamWorks’ take on the project will be set in the future, as the brave explorer returns to a deserted Earth for one more adventure.

The 33-year-old actor has a slew of movies in the works, including “Dracula Year Zero,” “Clash of the Titans 2” and the eventual sequel to “Avatar.”

Worthington is currently shooting the crime thriller “The Fields,” with Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
