“Grey’s Anatomy” is about to wrap its seventh season, and series star Chandra Wilson – who plays the beloved Dr. Miranda Bailey on the ABC hit — stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Thursday to dish with Billy Bush and Kit Hoover about the upcoming season finale, as well as her charity work with Downey’s Touch of Comfort program.
Here’s the scoop:
On the upcoming Season 7 finale of “Grey’s Anatomy”: “Everyone knows how we went out last year – shootin’ up everything — so we didn’t want to shoot anybody this year. We didn’t want to make anyone go crazy. It’s really about the characters. You’re left wondering what in the world is going to happen to these characters. It’s emotional.”
On fans believing she has Dr. Bailey’s personality in real life: “Originally everybody expected me to be really mean, so they didn’t exactly come up – they stayed a little back and just waved. But slowly but surely people are actually coming forward and thinking it’s going to be alright – they won’t get their head bit off.”
On her heart-warming charity work with the Downy Touch of Comfort program: “I’m so proud of our program. Downy started the Downy Touch of Comfort program because in this country alone, there are six million hospital stays that are attributed to children every single year. They’re away from home, battling illness, so [the program] was started in partnership with Quilt for Kids in order to distribute handmade quilts to children staying in Children’s Miracle Network hospitals across the country. We’ve given out 20,000 quilts so far, which is absolutely amazing.”
The “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 7 finale will air on Thursday, May 19, at 9 PM on ABC.
