Chris Brown’s Father: Chris ‘Very Remorseful’ Over Incident With Rihanna

Chris Brown’s biological father has broken his silence following his son’s arrest on suspicion of making criminal threats against Rihanna.

“He’s reflecting on this situation,” Clinton Brown told People. “He’s very remorseful. He’s very concerned about the situation and he wants to make sure that [Rihanna’s] okay.”

In the interview conducted at his home in Tappahannock, Va., Clinton Brown, a 44-year-old corrections officer, told People he hopes his son will overcome the incident.

“This is unfortunate, this stumble, this situation. Hopefully, he will get past it. We all have our shortcomings,” he continued. “We all trip.”

The singer’s father said he flew to LA to accompany Chris to the Grammys, but never made it to the show once Chris and Rihanna pulled out of the awards show following the incident.

Clinton Brown, who last spoke to Chris on February 12, said he is worried about how his son and his career will rebound.

“This music industry is very unforgiving when it comes to having indiscretions,” he added. “He will continue to be a good person. He loves people. And like most of us, most humans, things will occur. And hopefully a person won’t be judged simply on that alone.”

If nothing else, Clinton Brown expects his son to learn from this experience.

“I think he’s [going to] grow as an individual,” he continued. “He’s going to take from this situation and learn from it.”
