Chris Brown’s Past With Domestic Violence

Chris Brown has been arrested for criminal threats in connection with an alleged violent incident with a woman reported to be the singer’s girlfriend, Rihanna, on Saturday night – but this may not be the singer’s first experience with violence.

In a 2007 interview with GIANT magazine, Brown spoke candidly about his family’s history with alleged abuse.

When he was 11, the R&B star-to-be told his mother that he would go to jail for killing his allegedly abusive stepfather.

“I just want you to know that I love you,” Brown told his mother, according to the magazine. “But I’m gonna take a baseball bat one day while you at work, and I’m gonna kill him.”

“He used to hit my mom… He made me terrified all the time, terrified like I had to pee on myself,” Brown claimed during the interview. “I remember one night he made her nose bleed. I was crying and thinking, ‘I’m just gonna go crazy on him one day,’ I hate him to this day.”

Brown said he found relief from his alleged troubled home through creative endeavors.

“Music, basketball and drawing was my outlet to keep me away from all that,” he said.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, both Brown and Rihanna pulled out of Sunday evening’s Grammy Awards before the ceremony.

Brown turned himself in to police on Sunday evening, the LAPD confirmed to Access.

According to his booking sheet, Brown was being held on a $50,000 bail under a felony charge. He has since been released.

When contacted by Access on Sunday night, a rep for Rihanna said, “Rihanna is well. Thank you for concern and support.”

A rep for Chris Brown did not return calls from Access.
