Chris Harrison: It’s ‘Too Presumptuous’ To Say Emily Maynard’s The Next ‘Bachelorette’

Chris Harrison said reports that Emily Maynard is the frontrunner to be the next “Bachelorette” are not true – at least not yet.

“Rumors of Emily being the ‘Bachelorette’ are greatly exaggerated,” Chris Harrison told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Tuesday’s Access Hollywood Live. “It is way too early, way too presumptuous of anybody to say she’s ‘The Bachelorette’”

Chris, the host of “The Bachelor,” “The Bachelorette” and the upcoming Season 2 of “The Bachelor Pad,” said Emily and Brad Womack’s split is still to new and too raw, emotion wise, to talk about her looking for love again on national television.

“It’s obviously been bantered about. We’re not idiots, we talked about it, of course, but it hadn’t even been broached to her. It is way too soon,” Chris told Billy and Kit. “They just broke up and they’ve barely even broken up.

“As far as TV goes, we don’t go into production on ‘The Bachelorette’ for six more months. We would never pigeonhole ourselves… this early,” he added.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, on Monday night’s “The Bachelorette,” Emily tearfully opened up about her split with Brad, noting that it had to do with commitment issues – and her being a single parent to daughter Ricki, 6.

“She just never got that feeling that this is real and this is gonna laugh and she needed reassurance as a single mom would,” Chris said on Tuesday, recapping what Emily said the night before.

While it was clear Emily is still very emotional over her split with Brad, Chris said if they do end up having her as the next “Bachelorette,” he would be interested in changing the format around, and finding men who really want to be her man.

“If she is our ‘Bachelorette’ — that decision hasn’t been made – I would love to really announce it early on and really cast for her,” he said. “I think it would be a dynamic show and to see the guys that would really step forward, because you know, you’re stepping in as the dad.”
