Chrissy Teigen Slams ‘Horrible & Scary’ Peeple App

Chrissy Teigen is not a Peeple person. The supermodel has slammed the controversial new app being touted as “Yelp for humans.”

In a series of Tweets on Thursday, Chrissy expressed concern about Peeple’s platform which allows its users to rate anyone they know on a one-to-five scale – with or without the other party’s consent.

The TV personality said that the idea is both “horrible AND scary,” and reflects what she considers a dangerous trend within the digital landscape.

Chrissy went on to say that while she understands fame makes her vulnerable to scrutiny, she feels Peeple targets those not looking for feedback.

“At least I signed up to have the world judge and grade me publicly,” the 29-year-old wrote. “I f***ing hate this app and the boardroom table it was created around.”

Co-founder Julia Cordray said in an interview with the Washington Post published on Wednesday that she believes Peeple is being misconstrued. She and business partner Nicole McCullough said they formulated the app with numerous “integrity features,” including a zero-tolerance policy on profanity and sexism.

Additionally, negative ratings are queued for up to 48 hours. If the subject fails to issue a dispute or hasn’t registered an account, only positive reviews will appear on their profile.

“As two empathetic, female entrepreneurs in the tech space, we want to spread love and positivity,” Julia told the paper. “We want to operate with thoughtfulness.”

Peeple is set to launch in late November.
