Chynna Phillips & Tony Dovolani Weigh In On Keeping The Lead On ‘Dancing With The Stars’

Professional dancer Tony Dovolani has come close, but never quite won the mirrorball on “Dancing with the Stars,” but he’s feeling a renewed energy to go for glory with his latest celebrity partner – Chynna Phillips.

“Absolutely! From the first moment I met her [I was thrilled]. I was already a big fan of hers, but I saw the enthusiasm in her, the commitment already, and I knew she [wanted] this just as much as I do, so I was like, ‘Yes! Finally my prayers have been answered,’” Tony told Access Hollywood Live’s Kit Hoover when she visited the pair’s rehearsal on Friday.

Tony and Chynna – who were tied at the top of the leaderboard with J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff – remained modest when asked if they can smell the mirrorball already.

“I don’t like to boast. If it happens, that’s great,” she said. “If it happens, it happens, and that’s great, but if it doesn’t, that’s great too. It would be lovely to win the mirrorball trophy, but that’s not what I’m thinking about right now. What I’m thinking about now is the jive and staying in.”

Things haven’t been easy, but Chynna is already feeling the benefits of putting in the hours.

“My arms are stronger, I’m getting very excited,” she said. “If you put in the effort it’ll work.”

Chynna added there’s been another benefit.

“Thanks to Tony, the body’s coming together. After three kids, things are coming together. I might not need the tummy tuck I thought I was gonna need,” she joked.
