Columbus Short: ‘Scandal’ Cast Supports Me Through Tough Times

It’s been a tumultuous few weeks for Columbus Short (he was charged with felony battery in March and the actor’s wife filed for divorce on Tuesday), but the 31-year-old says his “Scandal” co-stars have been extremely supportive during this trying time.

“They’ve been my family. They’ve been my keepers,” Columbus, who plays Harrison Wright on the ABC drama, told Access Hollywood at a “Scandal” Season 3 finale viewing party on Thursday night. “I am their brother and they are my keepers.”

The actor declined to comment on the details of his split from his wife for legal reasons, and admitted it was frustrating to be barred from sharing his side of the story.

“It’s a tough place when you go through a personal thing and it’s in the public, whether true or not,” he said.

When asked if the situation makes it hard for him to focus on his career, he replied, “No, ‘cause this is my life. I’m married to my work.”

Despite family troubles, the actor said he’s definitely looking forward to single life and getting back to the dating scene.

“I’m really excited,” he said. “It’s a blessing.”
