Dakota Fanning: ‘I’m Not That Young Little Girl Anymore’

Dakota Fanning wants people to know she’s no longer a little girl.

The actress, who is currently starring in theaters in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” said she hopes her prior film, “The Runaways,” the biopic about the rock group of the same name, has made people realize she isn’t a delicate little doll.

“When you start out young, people get really attached to who you are at six years old,” Dakota, 16, told the August issue of Marie Claire magazine. “I hope that ‘The Runaways’ was kind of a moment to be like, ‘You know, I’m not that young little girl anymore, but I’m still not all grown up, either.’”

The actress (and high school student) added that she is looking forward to taking on more adult roles in the future.

“As you get older, there’s so much more that you can do in films,” she said. “I’ve never wanted to rush that; I’ve always wanted to do what’s right for my age, but as you approach 18, a whole new world opens up to you as an actor, and I really look forward to that.”

One thing that has been fun in her “Eclipse” role of the vampire Jane, has been changing her blue eyes to a different shade.

“I enjoyed the red,” she said of her vampire color. “You’re automatically transformed into a creature when you put those red eyes in.”
