Damon Wayans Jr. Returning To New Girl?

Is Coach getting back in the “New Girl” game?

According to E!, Damon Wayans Jr. will reprise his role as Coach when the Fox comedy returns in the fall.

Damon appeared in the show’s pilot, but was replaced by Lamorne Morris (Winston) after ABC renewed “Happy Endings,” forcing Damon’s exit.

Now that “Happy Endings” has been canceled, Damon’s schedule has opened up a bit.

Sources for E! report Coach will be featured in at least six new episodes, with the opportunity for more.

Coach will “be heavily integrated into Winston’s storyline,” sources told the website.

When contacted by Access Hollywood regarding the reported “New Girl” news on Thursday, a rep for Fox said, “The network and studio have not confirmed this casting news, so any stories that have posted have been speculation.”

A rep for Damon was not immediately available for comment when contacted by Access.

The 30-year-old actor is currently filming big screen comedy, “Let’s Be Cops,” alongside “New Girl” star Jake Johnson, along with Andy Garcia and “The Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev.

“New Girl” returns with its Season 3 premiere on September 17 at 9 PM on Fox.
