Dancing With The Stars: All-Stars — Double Elimination Results

It was a double elimination on Tuesday’s “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” as two former mirrorball champs were sent home.

Season 2 winner Drew Lachey and his “All-Stars” partner Anna Trebunskaya were the first pair cut from the competition, leaving Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovksiy (who were paired against Drew and Anna mid-way through the show as the two “in jeopardy” couples) to continue to Week 4.

“I can honestly say, I would not change a thing,” Drew said of his time in the competition. “Everybody questioned why I would come back. I came back because this is fun. We had a great time, I had an amazing partner.”

Also eliminated was Season 5 winner Helio Castroneves and his pro, Chelsie Hightower, over Sabrina Bryan and Louis van Amstel (the couple Helio and Chelsie were paired “in jeopardy” with) before the end-of-show elimination announcement.

Helio thanked his sponsors and the Indy Racing League for allowing him to compete — and the “DWTS” fans.

“I want to thank America,” he said. “You guys vote for me. I couldn’t be happier. Thank you.”

Chelsie said it was a real joy to be paired with such an enthusiastic partner.

“We had such a blast, he was such a fun partner to be with, always just a joy, always such an amazing attitude and he really wanted it,” she said.

Both eliminated former winners were not dancing with the original partners they won their seasons with. When Drew won Season 2, he was paired up with Cheryl Burke (who is dancing this time around with Emmitt Smith), and when Helio captured mirrorball glory in Season 5, he hit the floor with Julianne Hough (who left the show to pursue her movie career).

Beyond eliminations, the pairs each picked dances for each other for the upcoming Week 4, including a host of numbers not seen in competition before.

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas told Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd they would dance Bollywood style next week.

Kirstie and Maks gave the disco to Sabrina and Louis. In return, Sabrina and Louis gave Kirstie and Maks the Charleston, leaving the pair disappointed. Sabrina, thinking she was doing them a favor, apologized profusely.

Helio Castroneves and Chelsie Hightower, who picked before they learned their elimination news, chose the mambo for Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough. They were given Broadway style, but due to their elimination will obviously not complete that number next week.

Week 3 co-frontrunners Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy gave Emmitt and Cheryl the bolero. Emmitt and Cheryl returned the not-quite-kindness, by giving Kelly and Val contemporary.

Fellow co-frontrunners Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani threw a surprise to Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff by picking hip-hop for the pair. Apolo and Karina then gave Melissa and Tony the jitterbug.

No one picked a dance for Bristol and Mark. The pair actually got the one dance remaining on the list of Week 4 dancing choices – rock ‘n’ roll.
