David Archuleta Walks Into A Gay Bar – And Then Explains Why

“American Idol” Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta hit up New York City’s Club 57 – a gay Big Apple hotspot – last weekend and then took to his Twitter to explain why.

“Hey guys just wanted to clear something up real quick lol. Last night in New York I got invited to go and see my friend Charice perform…Mental note to self: always ask where before you go! Wasn’t my kind of place lol, and I had no clue! I guess you live and learn,” the 19-year-old singer wrote in a series of Tweets earlier this week.

David said he was there to support his friend and fellow singer, Charice.

“The upside was that Charice was awesome, and she has an incredible voice… Can get crazy quick. NO worries all, I wouldn’t get into things like that intentionally haha,” he continued. “Hope that clears things up! Been seeing some of the tweets.”

After some of his Twitter followers responded to his posts, David clarified his statements, writing, “I have friends who are gay, and they’re great people. Whether they’re gay or not doesn’t change how I think of them… I have nothing against anyone, I’m sorry if that’s how it came across. I’m just not into the partying scene lol.”

Access Hollywood caught up with Charice on Tuesday, and she expressed her gratitude to the former “Idol” contestant, saying, “David Archuleta went there just to support me and watch. He’s really a great friend and I just want to thank him for supporting me.”
