David Letterman Honored By Fellow Late Night Hosts

David Letterman only has one more show left and his late night contemporaries have honored the outgoing “Late Show” host.

“Late Night” host Seth Meyers recreated a shot-for-shot remake of Dave’s 1982 opening sequence to pay homage to Dave.

Jimmy Kimmel got emotional during his Dave send-off.

“I watched [‘Late Night with David Letterman’] every night and never missed it, and little did I know that many years and many pounds later, that watching the show was a great education for me. I learned almost nothing in college. I really didn’t. But watching Late Night, not only did I learn how to do everything from Dave, the reason I have this show is because the executives at ABC saw me when I was a guest on Dave’s show and hired me to host this show. I want to thank Dave and his writers and his producers,” he said.

Adding, “Dave is the best and you should see him.”

Jimmy Fallon saluted the exiting host for his humor and also his ability to handle life’s serious situations.

“I, like every kid who grew up watching him, will miss him… He taught us how to do something smart and stupid for comedy… He just wants to have fun and be goofy, and I’ll always remember that,” Jimmy said. “He’s always just there when you need him. I remember after 9/11, we needed somebody, the city was in shock, and we’re all looking for answers, and we wanted to see what Dave had to say and we looked at him to say something… He said, ‘There’s only one requirement for any of us, and that’s to be courageous, because courage, as you might know, defines all other human behavior.’

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will air a repeat and “The Tonight Show” will have a new episode with David Duchovny, Jeff Foxworthy and Pitbull.
