Demi Lovato Marks 5 Years Of Sobriety

Demi Lovato is marking five years of sobriety.

On Wednesday, the singer shared an inspiring message on her
Instagram page to mark five years sober. Demi posted a graphic reading,
“Twelve Steps” – one which noted how long she’s been sober for in
years – 5, months – 60, days – 1827, and hours – 43,813.

“So grateful,” she
wrote in the caption on the social media platform. “It’s been quite the
journey. So many ups and downs. So many times I wanted to relapse but sat on my
hands and begged God to relieve the obsession.”

The singer and actress went on
to thank those who have helped her along the way.

“I’m so proud of myself
but I couldn’t have done it without my higher power (God), my family, friends,
and everyone else who supported me,” she continued. “Feeling humbled
and joyful today. Thank you guys for sticking by my side and believing in
me.”

Demi has marked her sobriety milestones on social media
before, tweeting in March 2015, “I’m still catching up to texts and congrats tweets…
Thank everyone who has supported my journey. I never knew sobriety was possible
for me.

“But
with the love and support I’ve been given from my friends, fans, and family.. I
now celebrate my 3rd birthday. Thank you to everyone,” she wrote at
the time.

And last year, she marked four years by tweeting, “This last year I experienced so much life and too much death… But I made it through… Sober. #4Years #GodsWill.”
