DioGuardi’s Dad Says Kara Was Blindsided

Kara DioGuardi has remained out of the spotlight over the past few weeks ever since the “American Idol” judge shake-up started – but her dad, Republican senate candidate Joe DioGuardi, is speaking out saying his daughter is disappointed with the situation.

“Would you believe she did not hear – and still has not heard – anything?” Joe,who heads to a Senate primary in September, said during an appearance earlier this week on local New York TV show, “Capital Tonight.”

“She read it the way you did and I did. In fact, her disappointment is that that’s the way she’s being treated and she feels that’s not proper,” Kara’s dad continued. “I think what they’re trying to do is create a lot of buzz, like they did with Paula Abdul. They’re trying to reformat the thing.”

According to her dad, Kara will come out on top – regardless of how the “Idol” situation works out.

“But Kara has a very deep career in music… she’ll be fine,” he continued. “Does she want to do it another year? I think so. But, she just got married, and she’d like to have a family. So maybe, this is a good opening for her too… She has plenty of options.”

When asked if Kara would address the situation with the “Idol” producers, her dad added, “I think she at some point will confront them on that.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, earlier this month, FOX Entertainment Chairman Peter Rice said that nothing is set in stone regarding “Idol’s” new judges.

“There are no signed deals with anybody,” Rice told reporters at the FOX executive panel of the Television Critics Association in Beverly Hills last week. “There has been tremendous speculation.”

Since Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres have both decided to exit the FOX reality competition, rumors have swirled that Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler would take over, but on Wednesday, People reported that J.Lo was out as a potential judge.

Reps for FOX, “American Idol” and Fremantle had no comment when contacted by Access Hollywood on Wednesday about the report, while a rep for Lopez was not available for comment.
