Dish Of Salt: No Tardiness Here – Kim Zolciak On Her ‘Housewives’ Drama, Big Poppa & Lesbian Relationship

Just minutes before I was set to interview “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kim Zolciak, the news broke yesterday that yet another Housewife was splitting from her husband. “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Vicki Gunvalson filed for divorce from her husband of sixteen years, Donn, on Monday. The couple’s ups and downs were documented during the show’s five seasons. Vicki’s co-star Tamra Barney’s marriage also hit the divorce skids during filming of the show, as did “Real Housewives of New York” star Countess LuAnne De Lesseps.

So, is the show causing these marriages to disintegrate? According to Kim, absolutely yes.

“Without a shadow of a doubt,” Kim told me yesterday.

Her own much publicized relationship with a married man (she referred to as Big Poppa) was destroyed by the show. “We had a very sound, stable relationship, far different from what people have painted the picture to be and it destroyed us. It went from very comfortable and loving each other to just utter chaos and drama.”

Although Kim told me she has no regrets about doing the show at all. “I’m really happy and in a great place,” she said. “You just have to look at it like it’s a great platform. You just have to look at it as a positive experience. It’s not going to last forever.”

Through the show is also how she met her current beau of six months, Atlanta Falcons defensive end Kroy Biermann. “Sheree and him were in the celebrating charity event, ‘Dancing with the Stars Atlanta.’ Out comes Kroy and I’m like ‘Wow.’”

The first thing she noticed about him was his backside! “I was kind of behind him,” she laughed. “So, I saw the butt first and the body and then he was cute. He just had great energy.”

While Kroy will appear this season on the show, Kim told me he doesn’t want cameras to be part of their relationship. “He is from Montana. He is really not into it. He is really kind of reserved,” she explained.

The one relationship Kim would like to see put behind her is the short-lived romance she had with a woman, DJ Tracy Young. The Internet was buzzing when Kim revealed they were dating, after Tracy helped Kim with a remix of her single “Tardy for the Party.”

“It’s not that I get upset about it as much as it’s just enough already. Like, I don’t go around asking people who they sleep with. Why are you so wrapped up in what I did? It just blows my mind. I know it’s controversial. I know people love to talk about it… but it is what it is. It’s a situation that happened and it’s a situation that I wish I had to never, ever discuss.”

Kim admits the hardest part was having to discuss the situation with her two children when the news was leaked. “Tracy had spent a lot of time, for several months in my house. So, they weren’t completely caught off guard. My younger one, I mean it was a lot different conversation, but my older one it was like, ‘Here is the situation. It’s everywhere’… and she was mortified, naturally. I’m her mom. School is hard enough. She is in middle school and it’s hard enough and now you have to deal with this situation. It’s just been really, really difficult.”

Kim also had some harsh words for her new cast mate, Cynthia Bailey, who joined the show this season. In an interview with HollywoodLife.com, Cynthia implied that Kim’s newfound bisexual status was done for publicity’s sake. Check out the interview HERE.

“I didn’t put it out there. I had nothing to do with it being put out there,” Kim shot back to Cynthia. “I don’t know her. I have had two conversations with her in my life and I didn’t even film with her very much. I texted her the day that I read that and I said, ‘First of all, refrain from using Kim Zolciak’s name in any of your interviews. You don’t know my personal life, where I have been or I have been.’ I was very mean about it, ‘Like, don’t you try to come in and comment on my life.’”

A new episode of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” airs Monday night on Bravo. Check our more from my interview with Kim by clicking HERE.
