Drop Dead Diva: Brooke Elliott Thankful For Fans’ Help In Getting Show Revived

“Drop Dead Diva” returns for its fifth season this Sunday on Lifetime, but it almost didn’t happen.

As fans of the show know, the series, starring Brooke Elliott as Jane Bingham/Deb, was canceled earlier this year, but Lifetime hit the “return” button and brought the show back from the dead just a few months ago.

When she first heard the cancellation news earlier this year, Brooke said she was surprised.

“I kept thinking, ‘Really?’ You know how you just have a feeling about something? I was like, ‘Wow. I just didn’t think it was over, but I guess it’s over,’” Brooke recounted as she stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Monday.

The actress said she filled her “Diva” downtime by going through pilot season and just as that pilot season was ending, she learned her summer Lifetime series was being revived.

Brooke credited the fans for helping to save the show.

“It was really great because the fans, they signed petitions and they spoke up,” she said. “It honestly warmed my heart because I love this character so much, I love playing her and to know that people love her so much. It’s pretty cool.”

“Drop Dead Diva” will return on Sunday June 23 at 9 PM on Lifetime.
