Duggars Excited For Second Grandchild’s Impending Birth; Detail How ‘19 Kids & Counting’ Stay Financially Afloat‬‪

‬Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar are weeks away from becoming grandparents for the second time.

The “19 Kids and Counting” stars revealed their oldest son Joshua, and his wife, Anna, are a short time away from welcoming their own baby No. 2, when Matt Lauer asked why the eldest Duggar son wasn’t there for a “Today” show family interview on Tuesday.

”[He] and Anna are in New York, but they are expecting our second grandchild in a couple of weeks,” Michelle said. “They are resting and taking it easy.”

Joshua and Anna welcomed the Duggars’ first grandchild, Mackynzie Renee Duggar, in October 2009, just a few months before Josie Brooklyn Duggar, the 19th child of Michelle and Jim Bob’s was born.

The younger Josie is Mackynzie’s aunt.

Josie was actually born via C-section and was a micro-premie when she came into the world, forcing her to spend months in the hospital after her December ‘09 birth.

“Looking at Josie today, you would never know that she weighed 22 ounces at birth,” Michelle told Matt and his “Today” show co-anchor, the departing Meredith Vieira. “She is a miracle baby and we are so grateful to have her. Just the fact that she’s here is something to be grateful about.”

With 19 children, how the Duggars get by in hard times was a question on many viewers’ minds Matt said, but Jim Bob told the host that the couple has a steady income — and help from above — to get them by.

“We have invested in some commercial real estate over the years and we have all that paid for, and so we get some rental income. So really we’re kind of insulated from the financial situation that the country’s in,” Jim Bob said. “We’ve had a few renters that have moved out… but the Lord has always met our needs. It’s amazing, since we’ve had our children and expanded our family, God has always just increased our income, just a little bit, more to take care of it.”

The family is also frugal, Jim Bob said.

“We have never bought a new car, we’ve always bought used items and that saves us a lot of money,” he said. “And we probably spend less money on clothes than most people do.”

“Pretty much everything we wear is a thrift store find,” Michelle added.

“19 Kids and Counting” airs on Tuesday at 9/8 C on TLC.
