Fall Nail Trends (Glam Slam)

With fall officially underway, here at Glam Slam, we’re embracing our cozy sweaters, tall boots, and leather jackets. Of course, with any new season we not only change our wardrobe, but our beauty routine as well.

One of the easiest ways to test out new fall beauty trends? On your nails!

We’re seeing beautiful nail colors everywhere, and naturally, we had to know more. Glam Slam caught up with Katie Jane Hughes, butter LONDON Global Colour Ambassador to fill us in on the current nail trends, and how to rock them.

Dark Red:
Red is a classic color, but brights can sometimes look out of place for fall. Keep a red manicure fresh by opting for a deep wine hue. “Dark red is such an awesome power colour and is perfect for fall. Once the season is in full swing, opt for darker, richer reds. To keep your nails looking ladylike, keep the nail length just past the fingertip with more of an almond shape.”

Navy:
Sometimes we want to go dark on our nails, but black can wash out fairer skin tones. Katie suggests trying navy, which is universally flattering. “Navy nails are an amazing alternative to basic black. Rich, dark navy is an enchanting alternative to the classic fall colours and can appear not as heavy or dated. To help elongate the appearance of your fingers while wearing navy lacquer, have the nail length just past the fingertip with an oval shape tip.”

Nude:
Chips are a major bummer after a manicure. One way to conceal chips is by going nude- on your nails that is! A nude color will help make your manicure look fresher, longer. “Going with a sheer, nude lacquer is always a safe bet. Nudes are not only flattering to every skin tone, but are one of the hottest trends this fall. There is something so classic about a nude nail that can also feel very chic and modern at the same time. When it comes to length, anything goes with a nude nail!”

Chocolate:
Chocolate nails are popping up everywhere this fall and we can’t get enough of it! Something about a rich, chocolate manicure screams sophisticated and sexy. Katie notes that, “dark nail lacquer is always a great choice for fall. Chocolate colours are very flattering on every skin tone and look warm, effortless and beautiful. Keep dark brown nails short and clean.”

Metallic:
A trend I used to love as a kid was super sparkly nails. Trying to rock sparkly nails as an adult can be tricky, especially if your office is more conservative. The good news is, there’s a way to sport sparkles that’s appropriate for even the most buttoned up office. Katie says, “One of my favorite trends for fall is glittery, metallic nails. The look has such a dazzling effect and screams glamour. It can be elegant, edgy, and flirty all in one. Always keep glittered nails short with a rounded tip, as it’s important to not over-power with a sparkly nail look.”
