AMC has released the official poster for “Fear The Walking Dead,” the companion series to “The Walking Dead.”

In the shot, two young men are enjoying a game of basketball in the street as a walker looms in the background, set against what appears to be the Los Angeles skyline.
“I think the coolest thing about this show is that it tells its own story. You don’t need to have watched ‘The Walking Dead’ to understand ‘Fear The Walking Dead,'” Executive Producer Robert Kirkman said in a production video previously posted on AMC’s website.
The series – which will explore “the initial start of the [zombie] outbreak” featured in “The Walking Dead” – will premiere August 23 on AMC.
