FIRST LOOK: Britney Spears Records ‘VMA’ Promo Spot With Russell Brand

Britney Spears is heading back to MTV’s “Video Music Awards,” Access Hollywood has confirmed.

The pop singer, who made headlines last year after a rough performance of “Gimme More” opened the show, filmed a cameo for the 2008 “VMA” promos, Tuesday in Los Angeles.

According to E! News columnist Marc Malkin, Spears recorded the promo at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, the same locale the “VMAs” will broadcast from this year.

Spears appears in the spot with “VMA” host, British comedian and co-star of “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” Russell Brand.

“It was mostly ad-libbed, with Russell asking her for advice about hosting the show,” a source told Malkin. “There’s also a 9,000-pound elephant in it, as in ‘the elephant in the room.’”

It was unclear at press time if Spears will perform on the September 7 show.
