‘Flash’: Grant Gustin Talks Felicity, Barry, Oliver & ‘Arrow’ Crossover

Episode 4 of The CW’s highly anticipated new DC comics show “The Flash” will be a crossover with “Arrow,” featuring Starling City’s Felicity Smoak (played by Emily Bett Rickards).

When we last saw the adorable tech wizard with Barry Allen/The Flash on “Arrow,” there were obvious sparks flying between the two, but in the origin story, Barry is in love with Iris West. So what will go on when Felicity pays a visit to Barry? Access Hollywood caught up with “Flash” star Grant Gustin to find out.

“It’s pretty straight forward. She hasn’t seen me since the accident, and she knows more than I think she knows about what’s going on with me,” Grant told Access of Felicity’s Episode 4 intentions at Comic-Con 2014 in San Diego. “She’s coming to catch up with me, basically.”

While Felicity possibly getting rejected by Barry (on the heels of being rejected by “Arrow’s” Oliver Queen, played by Stephen Amell) could make for one heck of a soapy, dramatic storyline, Grant said the episode will be lighthearted.

“It’s really fun. I mean, none of it’s too serious,” he said. “It’s a really fun episode.”

Who does Grant think Felicity should end up with – Oliver or Barry?

“For Oliver or Barry right now, I don’t think a relationship, or love, can be at the top of their priority list, [even though] you can see them both dwell on it and think about it,” he said. “I don’t know. Felicity should definitely end up with someone, but it might not be able to be Oliver or Barry. So who knows.”

“Flash’s” eighth episode will be another crossover with the “Arrow” gang, but Grant said he has yet to read the script and couldn’t share any details. However, he is counting down the days ’til his new show premieres.

“I’m excited for everybody to see it! I’m excited for my friends and family to see it, and all the fans. We’re having so much fun,” he said. “I just love this character – there’s so much to love! He’s easily relatable. I don’t think I could have any more fun than this, so it’s great.”

“The Flash” premieres on October 7 at 8/7c on The CW.
