‘Game Of Thrones’ Actor Peter Dinklage’s Golden Globes Tribute: Who Is Martin Henderson?

When Peter Dinklage picked up his Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a TV series , the “Game of Thrones” actor ended his speech with a touching tribute to a man who was badly injured after being attacked late last year.

“I want to mention a gentleman I’m thinking about in England,” Dinklage said as he wrapped up his speech on Sunday night at the 2012 Golden Globes. “His name is Martin Henderson – Google him.”

Henderson, an actor who is a dwarf, was left badly injured on his 37th birthday last October, after being picked up and dumped on the ground after he stepped outside of a pub for a cigarette.

“I was at the back of the pub outside and the next thing I know I’m suddenly in the air and someone has got hold of me,” Henderson told The Sun, recently. “A man just approached, lifted me up and dropped me. He didn’t say anything.”

According to the newspaper, the incident happened just weeks after England’s rugby team players in New Zealand attended a “Mad Midget Weekender,” where a dwarf-throwing contest reportedly took place.

“The England players had been in trouble for going to a dwarf tossing event and this might have given this guy the idea,” Henderson told The Sun.

As a result of his injuries, Henderson said he can’t perform and is unable to get work.

Beyond his kind thoughts for Henderson at the Golden Globes, Dinklage also had some sweet words for his first child with wife Erica Schmidt.

“Thank you to George R.R. Martin. His prolific imagination is such a fun world to be a part of. David Benioff and Dan Weiss, the genius creators of our show, HBO and my wife Erica Schmidt and my lovely new daughter, who has her first babysitter tonight, so I’m a little nervous,” Dinklage said.
