‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 2 New Characters: Who’s Who In Episode 2?

Season 2 of “Game of Thrones” is providing a bounty of new characters and storylines, but for those who haven’t read the books, keeping track can be a little tough.

Four new characters came into focus during Sunday night’s episode, and AccessHollywood.com continues with Week 2 of our cheat sheet guide to keeping them all straight.

, played by English actress Gemma Whelan

How She Was Introduced: On the docks, Yara offered Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) a very memorable horseback ride to Pyke.

Character’s She’s Tied To: Her brother, Theon, and her father, Balon Greyjoy. A bit of history – Balon staged an uprising back in the day and after Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon defeated his forces, Ned took the young Theon as his ward to keep Balon in line.

Where You’ve Seen Gemma Before: She played a maid in Benicio del Toro’s “The Wolfman.” British-based fans can currently catch the actress on the London stage in “One Man, Two Guvnors.” She’s also a hit on the indie comedy circuit, trotting out one of her comedy characters – Victorian lady Chastity. , played by British actor Patrick Malahide

How He Was Introduced: Giving a less than warm greeting to his long-lost son, Theon, in a great hall in his sea-inspired palace of Pyke.

Characters He’s Tied To: His son, Theon, and his beloved daughter, Yara. He also has a deep hatred for all things Stark, after Ned and Robert Baratheon defeated his uprising years ago.

Where You’ve Seen Patrick Before: Most recently, American audiences may have caught Patrick in “Law & Order UK” on BBC America, or in his many films including “Brideshead Revisited,” “Quills,” and “The Long Kiss Goodnight,” with Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson. Patrick is well known to UK theater lovers for his work on the stage, including in “King Lear,” “The Tempest” and playing Claudius in the 2010 production of “Hamlet.”

Jaqen H’ghar, played by German actor Tom Wlaschiha

How He Was Introduced: In a cage, asking Arry (Arya in disguise) for some water in the most peculiar way. “A man has a thirst…”

Character’s He’s Tied To: He certainly has nothing in common with those creepy guys sharing an iron cage with him, but look for Jaqen to continue to be involved in Arya Stark’s storyline.

Where You’ve Seen Tom Before: The handsome actor told Access he’s playing race driver Harald Ertl in Ron Howard’s upcoming “Rush.” Like Carice van Houten (Melisandre), he was in the Tom Cruise vehicle “Valkyrie.” He also had a small role as Kurt, in 2008’s “Brideshead Revisited,” which also starred Patrick Malahide (Balon Greyjoy). Salladhor Saan, played by African actor Lucia Msamati

How He Was Introduced: Striking a deal on the beach with Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham). Davos gave him a proposal – use your fleet of pirates to help Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) take King’s Landing and you’ll have all the gold your heart desires. Salladhor really wants the queen.

Characters He’s Tied To: Davos Seaworth and Davos’ son, Matthos Seaworth. And Stannis, via Davos.

Where You’ve Seen Lucian Before: On HBO’s “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency” playing JLB Matekoni.
