‘Game Of Thrones’ To Film Portions Of Season 5 In Spain

“Game of Thrones” is headed to Spain.

The HBO drama will shoot portions of Season 5 in Sevilla later this year, HBO confirmed on Wednesday.

It is expected that Spain will stand in for Dorne, the home of the late Prince Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal). Dorne is also where Princess Myrcella (Cersei and Jaime’s only daughter) was shipped off to in Season 2.

HBO Watch reported on Tuesday that the Alcazar of Seville will serve as the Water Gardens of Dorne, where Prince Doran (Oberyn’s older brother) relaxes. Fans could end up spotting more of Oberyn’s relatives in this locale if the production follows George R.R. Martin’s book, “A Feast For Crows.”

Filming on Season 5 of “Thrones” begins later this month in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
