Where in the world is
Carmen Sandiego? Netflix and Gina Rodriguez have the answer.

The “Jane the
Virgin” star will lend her voice as the globe-trotting treasure bandit in
a new animated series, the streaming network announced on Tuesday.

According to a press
release, the update will deliver “a new crop of international capers
packed with thrilling adventure and intrigue,” as well as “an
intimate look into Carmen’s past, where viewers will not only follow her
escapades but also learn WHO in the world is Carmen Sandiego and WHY she became

Twenty 22-minute episodes have been ordered, and are slated to premiere in 2019. However, Gina told fans her wardrobe is on lock well ahead of time.

“I already have the fedora and coat. So it’s definitely true,” she tweeted.

The Golden Globe winner also teased the character’s look on Twitter, sharing Netflix’s first look image while jokingly asking fans to “just call me Carmen.”

Gina isn’t the only small screen star confirmed for the project.

“Stranger Things” actor Finn Wolfhard will also join her as Player, Carmen’s “chief accomplice and friend,” Netflix revealed.

In addition to its video game roots, other past “Carmen Sandiego” iterations include an educational game show which ran for five seasons in the ’90s.
