Girls Renewed For Season 3

Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Shoshanna will continue their quest of “almost getting it kind of together” for a third season.

Creator/writer/star Lena Dunham revealed the news of a Season 3 for her Globe-winning hit HBO comedy during a chat on Alec Baldwin’s podcast this week.

“We’re starting season three at the end of March,” the 26-year-old said. “I’m so excited.”

The actress, who took home the Best Actress trophy at the Golden Globes earlier this month, teased that there might be 12 episodes in the new season instead of the usual 10.

“I would love that,” she said. “I think that a little more would be just a little more storytelling real estate, and it would be amazing. But you know, so I shoot four-and-a-half months out of the year, then I’m editing, then I’m doing press, then I’m writing, then I’m back.”

After her big Globes win, Lena told Access’ Billy Bush that she was overjoyed and surprised by the show’s success.

”[The show] is our baby and it’s the most unbelievable gift to get to make it and this kind of recognition you never dream of. You hope, you know, 11 people will Tweet about it, and maybe HBO will let you go for one more season. It’s really unbelievable,” she said at the time.

“Girls” airs Sunday at 9 PM on HBO.
