Glam Slam: Emmys Best & Worst!

I had so much fun covering all the fashion for the Emmys Live Pre-Show! For one thing, it wasn’t so blistering hot that we were drenched in sweat like last year! In general, the stars looked very nice, meaning that they went with pretty, safe choices and didn’t push the envelope too much.

“Modern Family’s” Sofia Vegara was va va voom sexy in her saffron embroidered Carolina Herrera from the 2011 Resort Collection. Sofia had several designer gowns to choose from and I loved the unexpected color. I’m told that Ms. Herrera loves how Sofia pronounces her name…perfectly rolling the rrrr’s!

“Glee’s” Lea Michele looked chic in a navy silk taffeta Oscar de la Renta with a sweetheart neckline, which she accessorized with a gorgeous statement necklace.

Kim Kardshian dazzled with a Marchesa white silk chiffon gown with jeweled neckline. She told us she felt like a princess in the gown and she looked like one. This girl really knows what works for her curvy figure.

Heidi Klum also went with Marchesa and she wowed in a short black lacy number. What a difference from last year, when she walked the carpet nearly nine months pregnant!

Classic black was the go-to color for many stars. Eva Longoria Parker wore a strapless black Robert Rodriguez. “Modern Family’s” Julie Bowen went with a black J. Mendel silk gown with organza peplum, which she paired with Sergio Rossi shoes and a Jimmy Choo clutch. Tina Fey wore a black silk organza embroidered Oscar de la Renta with white satin underlay from the Resort 2011 collection. Kate Gosselin, Kelly Osbourne, Paula Abdul and Julia Louis-Dreyfus also sported black.

Purple reigned for Emmy winners Kyra Sedgwick and Jane Lynch. Jane ditched Sue Sylvester’s signature track suits from “Glee” and went glam in a purple taffeta one-shouldered Ali Rahimi gown, while Kyra was radiant in a strapless burgundy Monique Lhuillier ball gown.

Gotta give a shout-out to the adorable and iconic Betty White, who told us she pulled her outfit right out of her closet. She said she actually wore the exact same outfit to the Emmys fifteen years ago. Love her!

As Billy Bush said to me during the pre-show telecast, there are always two lists, which brings me to the worst dressed list.

While I love and appreciate that January Jones is a fashion risk taker, I was not a fan at all of her blue Versace gown. I did not think the cone-shaped top was flattering and I did not like how the skirt was cut out in front. Her hair was not appropriate at all for this event, it was very casual and beachy as opposed to polished. She did, however, have on some serious bling. Her Cartier earrings are worth a whopping $1.2 million! Too bad her hair covered them up!

January’s “Mad Men” co-star Christina Hendricks also makes my worst dressed list. Her lilac Zac Posen was a feathered fashion faux pas. It looked like something you would see on a nightclub singer back in the ‘70s. It was so low-cut, I was genuinely worried for her and if she would pop out of the dress. Not as bad, but not one of my favorites was Anna Paquin’s black satin Alexander McQueen gown with embellished shoulders. I couldn’t help but think of of a bullfighter in a ring when I looked at this dress!

I want to send a big shout-out to everyone who helped me get ready for the Emmys… yes, it does take a village!
