Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays – Fall Is Here!

It’s officially Fall and as much as I’ve been basking in the summer like weather here in LA, I’m ready for a change.

Makeup maven Sonia Kashuk who’s beautified Kelly Ripa, Salma Hayek, Ashley Judd and Sandra Bullock shares tips for how to get Fall’s Top Three Makeup trends, using her affordable makeup available at Target.

BOLD BROWS (Like Lea Michele)
Eyebrows were the main focus of beauty on the runways this season. Designers did just about everything to place these face framers front and center, from covering them in liquid gold at Jen Kao to completely bleaching them out at Jason Wu. While these looks are artistic and unique, they are certainly not to be tried in real life. I much prefer the direction Oscar de la Renta took by making the brows full and pretty, yet not too powerful. To achieve this look you will need my Spoolie brush ($1.99) and my Brow Definer Pencil ($5.99) or Arch Alert Brow Kit ($9.99). Start by brushing the hairs upward and laying them down in your desired shape. Next, fill in any sparse areas with subtle color in small, soft strokes that mimic hair to shape the eyebrow, keeping the look angular and bold. Go back over the brows with the spoolie to soften the line of the brow. Since both the pencil and kit are cream formulas, the spoolie will grab and blur the color. Even when working with a strong brow, you never want to look like your brows are drawn on. Finish with my Brow Gel ($5.99) to hold hairs in place.

METALLIC EYE SHADOW (Like Beyonce)
Glowing, glimmering metallic eyes were all the rage for Fall 2011. Roberto Cavalli had models gilded in gold, Derek Lam opted for sleek silver, and Rodarte was beautifully bronzed. This edgy, chrome look can be extremely wearable, as long as you keep the eye subtle and sexy. My Eye on Fall Color Instructional Eye Shadow Palette ($19.99) is perfect for achieving a smoldering shine, includes 12 gorgeous jewel tone shades which is also a huge Fall 2011 color trend, most with a brilliant metallic finish. The palette also comes with step-by-step instructions for three beautiful looks making the foray into bold color a no brainer. For added intensity pair one of the lustrous shades with one of my corresponding Eye Definers ($5.99). Some great combinations to try are: Shade 3, an icy taupe with my Smoke Eye Definer, Shade 10, a shimmery hunter green with my Olive Suede Eye Definer, Shade 11, a metallic rust shade with my Plummy Bronze Eye Definer, and Shade 12, a deep plum with my Iced Coffee Eye Definer. Finish the look with my Luxury Lip Color in Mauvey ($8.99).

RETRO MAKEUP (Like Anne Hathaway)
This season everything from makeup and hair to fashion was vintage inspired, transporting us back to the ‘40s, ‘60s and ‘70s. Alberta Ferretti was strictly sixties evoking the sex kitten with bouffants and bedroom eyes, while Gucci used bold Bordeaux lips and exaggerated lashes to glam it up in seventies style. My personal favorite look is from the 1940s, as seen in the Miu Miu show because nothing beats the classic simplicity of sultry cat eye and classic red lips. To recreate this look, try using my Dramatically Defining Gel Liner in Ebony with my Bent Eyeliner Brush for the perfect winged-tip line. The angle of brush allows you to see your lid as you apply your liner, making application easy and flawless. Complete the look with my Velvety Matte Lip Crayon in Rosey Nude and a sweep of my Beautifying Blush in Flamingo for a sexy natural flush.
