Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays — Summer Glam

Is there anything more glam than this vintage shot of Brigitte Bardot? It’s the epitome of summer chic and makes me want to hop on a flight to the French Riviera this very second.

Looking for the perfect summer beauty look?

Celebrity makeup artist Troy Jensen (www.troyjensen.com), who has worked with Nicole Scherzinger among others, shares a few of the pro secrets he uses on his star clients to keep their makeup looking fresh and natural day into night during the summer months…

FACE:
I always begin with primer. Shiseido Refining Makeup Primer SPF 21 is a pre-makeup essential that helps hide imperfections, improves the wear of foundation and prevents makeup from melting in the heat while offering UV protection. Blend over entire face and neck before applying foundation.

Summer makeup is about keeping it fresh, so swap your foundation for a lightweight tinted moisturizer. I love Jouer Matte Moisture Tint because it has SPF 15 to protect, mattifying properties to keep oil under control and gives the most flawless finish. Apply your tinted moisturizer with a moist sponge like a BeautyBlender for even coverage, then dust on a loose powder to set (I like Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Skin Soothing Loose Powder in Translucent).

CHEEKS:
It’s all about a healthy glow in summer and the right combination of cheek color and bronzer is the way to achieve that (especially since you’re protecting your skin with SPF!). Dust Jouer Mattifying Powder Bronzer in Sunswept all over face focusing on the areas where sunlight hits most (cheeks, forehead & the bridge of the nose). I will often mix my powder blush and bronzer together for a natural all over glow.

EYES:
Keeping it super simple with eyes is key this season. I like the eyes to have a soft wash of color without looking over done. Using a damp eyeshadow brush, blend a shimmery champagne, gold or bronze eyeshadow across the entire eyelids. The eyeshadow portion of the Giorgio Armani Summer 2013 Face and Eye Palette shades are perfection – a light pearly cream, a shimmery pale peach and a soft bronzy brown.

For bright eyes, first curl lashes with an eyelash curler then apply your waterproof mascara. By curling your lashes first, you instantly open your eyes without having any make up on at all.

BROWS:
Keep eyebrows well groomed and in place by brushing brows with Jouer Brow Fix

LIPS:
I love a sheer lip that gives my star clients a wash of color without looking lipsticky. The red carpet can get hot so I always finish this look with a lip product containing SPF for added protection. A favorite shade of mine is Jouer Lip Sheer SPF 15 in Capri – a beautiful sheer pink. I just used it on “Once Upon a Time” star Lana Parrilla, for the premiere “The Lone Ranger.”
