Glam Slam: Oscar Worthy Style? You Met!

Beyonce! Gwyneth! And SJP! Oh my!

The stylish stars joined about a gazillion other celebs, models, designers and beautiful people crowding the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute gala. Fashion heaven!

There was Sofia Vergara stunning in a silver embroidered Marchesa, Scarlett Johansson in a custom bustier gown embroidered with gold thread and pearls by Dolce & Gabbana and Cameron Diaz in a long-sleeve, crystal-fringe embroidered gown by Stella McCartney. Jessica Alba flaunted her inner goddess with a golden one shoulder Michael Kors goddess gown.

Rihanna rocked a crocodile-embossed black leather number by Tom Ford. Also wearing leather — Kristen Stewart in a color blocked Balenciaga mini. It was not one of my favorite looks…neither was Sarah Jessica’s metallic floral-print Valentino.

“It’s just a dress that I saw that I loved,” SJP told us on the red carpet. “And I love the collection in whole and I love this dress in particular and I thought it was very old fashioned and really special.”

I do love that SJP always takes fashion risks and she wasn’t the only one. Here are some of the big fashion night’s big trends:

SHEER:
Beyonce was the talk of the red carpet in her super sheer black gown with purple ostrich-feather train by Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci. B’s got her body back after baby! Rooney Mara also wore Givenchy with a black lace gown with sheer skirt. Heidi Klum went with a navy Escada mini featuring a sheer lace skirt. Marion Cotillard, in Dior Haute Couture, also went with a revealing sheer skirt, while Renee Zellweger wore a black Emilio Pucci gown with sheer panel design and sheer sleeves.

ORANGE:
Eva Mendes looked beautiful in the citrus hue in a strapless gem-encrusted Prada, Kristin Wiig wore bright lace Stella McCartney and Ginnifer Goodwin in a Monique Lhuillier tangerine silk chiffon cap sleeve gown. Kristen Bell also went with tangerine in a slinky Tommy Hilfiger halter gown, while Katherine McPhee wore an orange beaded Elie Saab.

FEATHERS:
Kate Bosworth wowed in an ombre feathered Prada mini. Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton designed Cate Blanchett’s black feather gown with ostrich trumpet-hem and Diane Kruger went with a dramatic, floaty purple Prada with feathered hem.

BRIGHTS:
January Jones stood out — way out — in her bright yellow custom Atelier Versace bustier gown. Emma Stone could have stopped traffic in her cherry red custom Lanvin. “Glee” star Lea Michele got sexy in a blue gown with plunging neckline by Diane von Furstenberg while her co-star Dianna Agron wore a jade-green peplum gown by Carolina Herrera. Julianne Hough also wore Carolina Herrera… she paired her hot pink satin mermaid gown with Jacob & Co jewels.
